Now that the swimming season is over, the requests for my recovery services have slowed way down. That gives me more time to train for the Panama City Ironman in November and also lets me do some detecting for me.
I like going out walking on the beaches searching for targets without having the pressure of making a recovery. If I find a piece of jewelry I look in the lost & found and post a generic “Found” on the beach – charm or ring or whatever it is. Then the owner can contact me and describe the item. If no one clams it it goes into my safe deposit box for retirement.
I have nearly every gold & silver ring that I ever found. When I retire I hope that gold & silver prices are up so I can have a nice nest egg.
Metal detecting is one of the few hobbies that can pay for itself. I sure have paid for all of my equipment then some in just coins.
My next rush for recoveries will start when it starts snowing. People usually have gloves on, take them off and their rings come off with the gloves. In the winter your fingers shrink because of the cold. Take my advice, if your ring is loose don’t where it in the cold. If you want to wear it get a ring guard from your local jeweler.
If you lose your ring in the snow I can still find it. My equipment is waterproof. I have made several snow recoveries. If you are in the Southern NJ area you van call me at 707-706-3626. The picture above is from a snow recovery in Mt Laurel a few winters ago.
